A septic feasibility Study gives you the cited rules for a septic system on one
parcel: setbacks, nitrogen status, what the project triggers, and funding
programs. It combines Massachusetts Title 5 with the town's Board of Health
regulations, and shows which one controls.

It's available for **Barnstable**, **Falmouth** and **Mashpee**.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the septic form">
    Click **New Study**, then **Looking for septic feasibility instead?**
    under the page heading.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill it in">
    * **Town**
    * **Property address**
    * **What's happening**: Buying or selling (transfer of title), New
      construction, or Upgrade or expansion
    * **Bedrooms** (optional)
  </Step>

  <Step title="Run it">
    Click **Run septic feasibility**. You can follow each step as it runs.
  </Step>
</Steps>

If the address can't be matched to the town you picked, the run fails and says
so. Check the address and the town.

* **Nitrogen Sensitive Area status**: whether a nitrogen designation applies,
  the watershed permit status, and any upgrade or new-construction nitrogen
  requirement.
* **Controlling requirements (Title 5 + local supplement)**: design flow,
  reserve area, and each constraint with the state value and the town value
  side by side. A badge shows which one controls: **Town value controls** or
  **State value controls**. Town requirements with no Title 5 counterpart are
  listed separately.
* **What this study triggers**: the requirements that apply to this
  transaction, with any statutory window.
* **Before design can start (field work required)**: the field work needed,
  who performs it, and the basis for it.
* **Funding programs**: programs that may help pay for the work, and who
  administers them.
* **Known coverage limits**: where Urbee's data for the town is incomplete,
  when that applies.

Every value is either cited, with the verbatim text and a link to the
source, or marked **Not found** with the sources Urbee searched.

<Warning>
  Urbee reports the cited rulebook for the parcel. Soil, groundwater and
  system-condition facts require licensed field work and are never estimated.
